Veterinary TeleHealth

For individuals in rural areas or with limited transportation options, veterinary telehealth can offer diagnosis and treatment for conditions such as anxiety, allergies, ear issues, urinary tract infections (UTIs), flea & tick, upset stomach, behavioral issues, and more. Many states, including Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana, and Oklahoma also allow veterinarians to prescribe medication virtually.

The potential risks associated with the use of veterinary telemedicine can include delays in veterinary medical evaluation and treatment due to equipment failures or information transmission problems (such as poor image resolution); breach of privacy of personally identifiable information due to security breaches or failures; and adverse drug interactions, allergic reactions, complications, or other errors with respect to your pet due to your failure to provide complete medical information or records regarding your pet. In addition, veterinary telemedicine is not an appropriate method of care in some instances.

  • Dutch.com offers telehealth services with plans starting as low as $7 per month.

  • Pet Vet Corner is a Facebook group where veterinarians can sometimes answer questions from concerned owners. If you join this group please be respectful and read all rules before posting a question.

Assistance with non-routine veterinary costs

  • https://www.paws4acure.org/ (application for assistance)

  • HOPE Funds

    • HOPE Funds program offers financial assistance for income-qualified pet owners whose pet is suffering from an immediately life-threatening condition. You do not need to be an existing Banfield Pet Hospital® client to apply for HOPE Funds, but treatment and the application process will need to be done at a Banfield Pet Hospital. Due to the high demand for assistance, not everyone who applies for HOPE Funds will be approved, and the entire cost of your pet’s treatment will not be covered. All applications submitted must be reviewed for both medical and financial eligibility. Please contact your local Banfield Pet Hospital for more information and eligibility.
