Athena III, 19-039's Bio

Athena has been known traditionally as the goddess of war, but in this case she is the goddess of love. She was found with a chain double wrapped around her neck and padlock, and the clasp hanging off of it embedded in her paw forcing her to get around on   3 legs. She has since recovered, and is ready to find the home that she deserves.  Athena loves everyone and everything. She has that gentle charming way about her that mastiffs are known for, including the loving lean. Athena is great with other dogs and loves to play. She did not care about the cats at the clinic after a brief sniffing. Athena is young and still loves to play, but is not overly energetic. She still needs to put on weight, and we can’t wait to see her in her full glory. Athena is housetrained and good on a leash. She is looking for a home that will make her a member of the family, and include her in many activities.

This from her foster: Athena is about as sweet as they come. She is extremely good natured and wants to be friends with humans and dogs alike. She likes being by your side and loves being the copilot to hold your hand during car rides. You know, just in case you’re feeling nervous. She loves chew toys and chicken, and not necessarily in that order. She is a big girl, but very gentle and needs to gain several more pounds. She still needs to learn her basic manners, but we expect she’ll be at the top of her class in Paws in Prison, as she just wants to please you and make you happy.

Athena is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $250

Athena is in the Paws in Prison program where she receives obedience training. She is expected to graduate from Paws in Prison on 5/18 /19.  The dogs in this program are trained under the AKC Canine Good Citizen standards and are specifically selected to be family and companion dogs. They spend 24 hours a day with their trainers. For that reason, they will do best in homes where they are primarily inside dogs and spend lots of time with their families. The adoptive family will receive Athena’s training journal. This journal documents her arrival from the shelter, her daily training progress, and her interactions with her trainers.
