Rafiki, 18-091's Bio

Rafiki is the product of extreme neglect. He weighs a pitiful 8.9 lbs. when he should weigh around 16. His tiny self had been living as an outdoor dog, and his fur had grown into one large mat that had torn the skin in some places. Underneath that, there were hordes of fleas eating away at him. Luckily, someone had pity and finally took him to the shelter, and finally he found his way to CARE. We are positive that given time and some groceries, Rafiki’s confidence, body, and coat will be as gorgeous as it can be. He is truly a diamond in the ruff. Rafiki was housebroken at one point, but due to being outside only for a long period of time, along with his poor health, he will require patience and refresher courses on his housetraining. He would prefer a home where someone is home a lot, or could take him with them often. He would benefit from having a confident fur sibling to play off of to boost his own confidence. Rafiki is vaccinated, Neutered, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $200. CARE's adoptable pets are specifically evaluated and selected to be family and companion animals. We place them in foster homes where they live in the home environment and become part of the family while awaiting permanent adoption. For that reason, they will do best in homes where they are primarily inside pets and spend lots of time with their families. If you are interested in meeting Rafiki or learning more about the adoption process, please visit our website and submit our online adoption application here:
